OUR History

The Sisterhood founded in January 1999 with 12 members was initially created as a book club. After the very first meeting the vision quickly turned into a community of sisters seeking positive fellowship in a safe and confidential environment. During monthly meetings members shared intimate concerns regarding health, aging parents, personal relationships, career issues, challenges with children and the likes. This resulted in more women seeking membership and an increase of programs and services which led to over 20 years of monthly meetings hosted on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Sisters4Sisters,Inc. has evolved into an organization dedicated to transforming and restoring the lives of vulnerable women and girls th

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25- 35-40 This mantra speaks to the heart of the organization’s Founder and Visionary, Carolyn White-Washington, who birthed the organization in 1999 as a result of an overwhelming call to open her heart and home to women in need. After the loss of both parents, in her early 20’s, Carolyn, an only child experienced first hand depression, anxiety and life uncertainties leading her to have an open heart for broken women and girls A survivor of sexual assault and abuse at an early age .Carolyn understood the power of sharing and healing through a safe, holistic space. The purpose of the Sisterhood was to connect stronger and more confident women with those who were more vulnerable and in need with nurturing. support and direct services. Carolyn continues to lend her voice to the organizations mission and goals towards turning life’s trauma into triumph for women and girls of all ages and walks of life.
